Warm Cranberry Camembert Appetizer

Tangy, Savory, Sweet -- 4 Ingredients, 5 Minutes! Instant Yum!

Need a quick appetizer to take to a neighborhood get together? Unexpected friends turn up? Want a 5-minute appetizer for holiday gathering? Try Warm Cranberry Camembert Appetizer. It’s green, white and red, so it’s festive too.

It’s one of those 4-ingredient 5-minute appetizers that’s salty, sweet and savory.

Tangy, savory, sweet, crunchy -- all in one bite!

Camembert is a soft, buttery, creamy cheese that looks like Brie. So, if you want to substitute, no one will know. They both originated in the Normandy region of France and are cow’s milk cheeses with an edible rind. Camembert is earthier and has a slightly stronger taste profile. Brie has extra cream added to it in the process, making it have a higher milk fat content. They both pair well with fruit, nuts, dried cured meats and crackers. And they melt well. Speaking of melting…The one thing to remember on this recipe is not to let the cheese cook too long or it won’t retain its shape.

I like to serve this with Brioche Toasts or a crunchy cracker that’s a contrast to the soft oozy nature of the cheese.

Warm Cranberry Camembert Appetizer

Recipe Ingredients

1 large wedge Camembert (or Brie)

¼ c whole cranberry sauce

¼ c whole salted roasted pistachios

Brioche Toast, Melba Toast or Seed Crackers

Rosemary and sage for garnish (optional)

Preparation Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350

2. Place parchment paper on cookie sheet.

3. Put cheese on parchment paper.

4. Bake in oven for 3-5 minutes checking occasionally.

You want it soft and a little gooey but it needs to have kept its shape and not oozed all

over the tray.

5. Transfer to a plate. (Using parchment paper makes this process a little easier.)

6. Top with a big dollop of whole cranberry sauce.

7. Sprinkle roasted salted pistachios over the top.

8. Add crackers around the cheese.

9. Garnish with rosemary and sage.
