Lemon Mousse Babka

Store-bought cake, homemade mousse and ready in a flash!

Sometimes you need a little help! This recipe uses a no-bake homemade lemon mousse on top of store-bought babka. The result is great taste, homemade appeal in a fraction of the time.

Not familiar with babka? It might be your new dessert go-to. Rich like a croissant and less sweet.

Imagine a mashup between a flaky chocolate croissant and a coffee cake.

We picked up an 18-ounce loaf of Trader Joe's Chocolate Brooklyn Babka for $5. Imagine a mashup between a flaky chocolate croissant and a coffee cake with a dark chocolate ganache poured over.

A beautiful dessert in 15 minutes!

This babka is delicious by itself, but the lemon mousse made with mascarpone cheese takes it to a whole other level! Now, you've got fresh lemon goodness and dark chocolate and did we mention a sprinkle of fresh raspberries on top? If fruit and chocolate is one of your favorite culinary combos, then this needs to be on your dessert list.

What if you don't have a Trader Joe's nearby? Some grocery store bakeries sell babka. If they don't, you've got other options. A plain vanilla poundcake would work. So would chocolate or lemon poundcake or even a fruit pie like blueberry would be nice. Lemon mousse makes just about anything better!

If you want to skip the cake all together, try stuffing fresh plump strawberries with the mousse for perfect bite size treats like we did for Lemon Mousse Strawberries. Or bring out your prettiest teacups or coupe glasses for our Lemon Mousse Raspberry Cups.
